This notes index is the rebuilt /blog/ — a new IA path that also absorbs /news/ redirects. It is not the 2018 post stack. Those dated URLs 301 away so they cannot linger as soft-404 articles about a trivia night.
What you will find here are rewritten essays that stay useful after a season changes: how the Goulburn became a crossing, how to read a fire rating before you leave Melbourne, how to walk the Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk without treating it as a playground, how the rail trail leaves Tallarook. Each piece should send you to a hub and to an official URL.
What you will not find: a live news ticker, reprinted press releases, or “ten secret spots.” If a note and Mitchell Shire disagree, the shire wins. If a note and CFA disagree, CFA wins.
Use the list below, then return to things to do or history when you want the longer spine.
How to read a note on this domain
Each note should do four things: answer a real question in the first paragraph; cite a primary URL; refuse a number we cannot attribute; and send you back to a hub if you wanted the whole spine. If a note starts to sound like a news story — “this Saturday,” “tickets from,” “the winner was” — it has left the job and should be deleted.
The parked site used blog mechanics for community notices, concert listings and festival countdowns. Those are events-guide problems now. A 2018 post about a viaduct closure is getting here plus VicTraffic, not a ghost article. A stallholder write-up is local markets plus the organiser’s current page.
What “evergreen” means in a fire district
Evergreen does not mean “ignore the weather.” It means the method stays stable: check the North Central rating, check PTV, check the Army appointment page, check the trail closure board. The method is the publishable thing. The Tuesday that a particular market happens is not.
If you arrived from an old /2018/… URL, you were redirected because the archive text is not ours to copy and is not safe to leave as a 200. If you arrived from a search for “Seymour blog,” you are in a notes index. For living in town — schools, services, the civic present tense — use living and local services.
Guest inventory, without a guest-post farm
The brief for this rebuild includes guest-post inventory as a goal. That still requires a citeable topic: Country, crossing, railway, camps, river, GI wine geography, rail trail, fire literacy. It does not require a list of “top 10 wineries we ranked this morning.” If you want to offer a sourced essay, use contact and bring the URLs. We will not launder a press release.
Photograph credits for the notes use the same Wikimedia Commons files as the hubs, adapted for the web and listed in the footer. If a credit is wrong, that is a good use of the form.
The list of published notes appears above or below this essay, generated from the Keystatic posts collection. If the list is short, that is honesty. A thin weekly feed would be a different product — and a worse one for a town domain that already has a council what’s-on page.
Notes and the rest of the IA
If a note is really a walk, the canonical page is still things to do or the river. If it is really a camp, use Light Horse or Puckapunyal. If it is really a train, use railway. The notes exist so those hubs do not have to carry every aside.
Dated archive categories (/category_…, /tag_…) 301 toward this index or home. They were WordPress leftovers, not a taxonomy we will rebuild. Readers looking for “Seymour news” should use council and local outlets that still publish; this domain is orientation.
