How do you get to Seymour? Directly: by the Hume Freeway or the Goulburn Valley Highway, or by train to Seymour Station, which V/Line lists at Dowling Street, near Dowling Avenue, Seymour VIC 3660. Then open PTV, VicTraffic and CFA for the day you actually travel.

The minute figures we will not average
Discover Mitchell cards Seymour as “Melbourne 70 minutes” and says the shire is “just an hour from Melbourne.” The Seymour and Surrounds visitor guide says “only 90 minutes north of Melbourne,” “just over an hour,” and, in a table, “Seymour to: Melbourne 115km / 90 minutes.” Those are official claims on official PDFs and hubs. They are not a stopwatch we ran at dawn. Peak Hume traffic can stretch any of them.
This guide uses the road names council uses. Alphanumeric route shields that appear only on unofficial pages stay off this one.
Train, bus, accessibility
PTV publishes a Seymour regional town network map. Travellers Aid describes Seymour Railway Station as a transport hub and bus interchange and notes a presence on the station (their page has stated hours — re-check that operator page). PTV also notes Travellers Aid buggy and companion services at Seymour Station. Heritage Victoria and council still talk about the heritage station complex in station-street language; V/Line’s public listing is Dowling Street. If you need step-free detail, use PTV and Travellers Aid, not a guess from a photograph.

Car, parking, the old highway
The historic Sydney Road / Hume Highway crossing is a closed heritage bridge. Do not treat it as a rat-run. Park where signs allow. Commemorative-walk pages mention car and caravan parking on High Street; that is council’s sentence, not a guarantee of a space at 11 a.m. on a Saturday.
If you are towing toward a caravan park, use caravan, glamping and camping as method, then verify the park. If you are heading to Puckapunyal, you need the Army appointment path, not a tourist GPS pin dropped on a gate.
Fire and road disruptions
Mitchell Shire is in the North Central Fire District. PTV points road and bushfire disruptions to VicTraffic. The visitor guide lists emergency 000, VicEmergency hotline 1800 226 226, and Mitchell Shire Council 03 5734 6200 at 113 High Street, Broadford. Download the VicEmergency app if you are leaving the city in summer. Never travel into a declared Code Red area or toward a fire because a cafe was mentioned on a blog.
Once you have arrived
Visit is the stay-and-orient hub. Things to do is the day-structure hub. Region is the shire-and-neighbours hub. If you only needed a station name, you already have it: Seymour Station, Dowling Street, V/Line, live times on PTV.
